António is Managing Partner, co-founder and CEO of Pathena. Also, António serves as Observer in the Board of various Pathena Fund invested companies.

António has a degree in systems engineering from Minho University, an MBA from Porto Business School (University of Porto), an AMP from INSEAD (France). Has also done post-graduate studies at IMD (Lausanne) / ISEE-University of Navarra (Spain) and MIT (Sloan School of Management US) and Singularity University (US) – Exponential Medicine.

He is also a Founding Partner, Investor and business angel of various other Digital Health, Digital Therapeutics and MedTech companies.

António is Non-Exec Board Member of Fundação José Neves, Member of the Digital Advisory Board of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (the Public Bank of Portugal), Non-Exec Board Member of Parfois, Member of the Strategic Evaluation Council of the Medicine School of University of Minho, Advisory Board Member of Nursing School of the University of Minho and Jury of Catapult for Health for Europe – Digital Health chapter – from the EU EIT for Health Program. Finally, he is recurrently an invited referee/jury in Healthtech / Medtech events across Europe.

Vitor Hugo Pereira, MD Ph.D., is a Cardiologist dedicated to Cardiovascular Imaging and a Level 3 certified expert in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (European Society of Cardiology). He is enthusiast about the application of artificial intelligence to medical imaging to improve clinical outcomes and daily workflow.

He is Assistant Professor of cardiovascular sciences in the School of Medicine at the University of Minho, where he also works as a clinical researcher in the field of cardiac imaging. In 2014, he completed his Ph.D. dedicated to the study of the autonomic nervous system using functional magnetic resonance imaging.

In 2019, he joined AI4MedImaging where he led a talented team to the development of AI4CMR, a Software as Medical Device that automatizes the quantification and interpretation of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance

Graduated in Systems Engineering and Computer Science in 1991, by the University of Minho and IT Masters, at the same university in 1998, she began her professional career in software development in industrial weighing systems.

From 1998 to 2001, she leads the Artificial Vision Department at IDITE Minho, Braga, as a project manager, an area that became her professional pursuit since then. In 2001 as co-founder, she created ENERMETER – Measurement Systems, consisting of two areas of operation; Measurement Systems and Artificial Vision Systems focused on conceiving, developing and installing automatic systems, based on image processing and artificial vision technologies, for the most varied industrial sectors of both national and international markets.

To encourage business growth, in 2017, Neadvance – Machine Vision is founded as a spin-off of Enermeter’s Artificial Vision department, being the co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In 2019, AI4Medimaging was born, a company dedicated to the research and development of solutions that support clinical diagnosis, as a spin-off of Neadvance’s medical research department, Teresa Martins is the co-founder and member of the Board of Directors

Eva Costa is the Chief Product Officer AI4MedImaging. She has been working for the company since 2016 (previously at Neadvance, the parent company) and started as a Data Scientist, integrating the Research & Innovation team. During her time as a Data Scientist, she developed artificial intelligence solutions for medical imaging.

She was the main researcher on a Paediatric Cardiology project, resulting from a partnership with an academic institution and with a Hospital from Brazil.

In 2019 she assumed the role of Project Manager, leading the Cardiology Product development team. Soon after she has assumed the position of Head of Development of the company.

Eva holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho, specializing in Medical Electronics. She completed her Master’s degree in Politecnico di Milano while doing an internship focused on Medical Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

Nelson Martins is the Chief Technology Officer of AI4MedImaging, Medical Solutions, SA. Nelson has a MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho since 2012 and a PhD in Computer Sciences from the University of Porto since 2019.

For more than 8 years, he has been working on artificial intelligence applied to medical images such as mammography, eye fundus images, cardiac and musculoskeletal ultrasound and MRI.

From 2012 to 2018 he worked as a Researcher and Developer, at Centro de Computação Gráfica (Guimarães), Faculty of Sciences of The University of Porto and finally at the Instituto de Telecomunicações (Porto). During that time he also collaborated with Enermeter and Neadvance in their R&D projects.

In 2018 Nelson started working as a Data Scientist at Neadvance and then moved to Ai4MedImaging as a Senior Data Scientist, before being assigned the Head of Technology and Science position.

Dr. Joaquín Azpilicueta has spent over 25 years in the medical devices sector with extensive international experience throughout EMEA and LATAM regions with Hewlett-Packard, Medtronic among other companies. He holds an MBA from the IE, Madrid, Spain, is a certified member of the board by the Spanish Instituto de Consejeros y Administradores (ICA) and has a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Navarra with specialization in Cardiology.

Dr. Azpilicueta currently resides in Saint-Livres, Switzerland and acts as an advisor and board member of companies in the medical technology and e-Health sector and also serves as associate professor of the Instituto de Empresa.

Carla has a degree in Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising, and an Advanced Program in Human Resources.

With over 25 years of work experience, Carla started her professional background in 1994 as Marketing and Comercial Assistant.

In 2002 she joined Enabler (Sonae Group Company) and had started her career in the HR domain. Later on, Enabler´s acquisition moved on to Wipro Technologies, where she performed as Global Talent Acquisition Manager. In 2014 joined Tlantic (Sonae Group Company) as Global HR Manager. In 2018 she joined Neadvance as Head of Human Resources.

With experience in Regulatory (MDR and FDA) and Quality ISO 13485 and QSR she has the responsibility for Regulatory Affairs and Quality Management at AI4medImaging. Due her passion and large experience in the people management area, she also handle the management of the Human Capital area.

Manuel J. Ferreira received a B.Sc. degree in electronics and telecommunications from Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal, in 1992, and an M.Sc. degree in Industrial Informatics, as well as a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Electronics from Universidade, do Minho, Guimarães, Portugal, in 1996 and 2004, respectively.

Since 1992 he has been working mainly on the development of computer vision and machine learning technologies based on advanced algorithms, applied to industrial applications and medical imaging.Manuel João Ferreira is a Senior Machine Learning Advisor at AI4Medimaging.
